Andrew Barker as part of 808 State will be sadly missed, 808 State were a great influence to my musical tastes growing up, they helped to plant the seed for my love of music that pushes boundries & technology to the limit and my subsequent love for synthesizers and classic Roland gear.

I know it's traditional to take a moments silence to remember those that have passed, I'll pay my respects to Andy by raising a glass and playing some classics like "Cubik" and "In Your Face" rather loudly.

Thank you for providing a huge part of the soundtrack to my life Andy.

808 State will always be my favourite group. So, like so many others, my favourite group changed my life. I want to thank Andy Barker, (always my favourite member since I saw him wearing a New Order Technique concert tour t-shirt) from the bottom of my heart. Your music has been listened to in all my households weekly since ‘Ninety’. From middle of nowheresville when I was a kid to now as I grow old in the countryside with my family and make my own tunes with some mad bastard down the road. Thanks for it all!

We started out at nursery school together in Ancoats. Our family members were all good friends with each other too. A quiet, unassuming lad that helped put Manchester music industry on the map. You will never be forgotten Andy, some of your old school friends from St Anne’s still meet up and we speak of you, and that will always remain. RIP my Ancoats Friend. Til we all meet up again. Al 🐝

I could bang on about how much 808 State changed my life but this isn't about the band, its about Andy. A true man and a legend and someone I met only once as a fan but made me feel like a friend. That's the kind of person he was. He will be missed greatly by literally thousands of people. That's the legacy he left. Rest in peace my man. The world will be smaller with you.

We knew each other for over 25 years. I was a big 808 State fan and was made up when I got to know him and Darren. A true gentleman and a lovely guy. Always warm, funny and modest. A privilege to have known him.

We met once at Moogfest.

Some of my favorite memories include listening to 808 in my car on the way to the warehouse clubs here in L.A. in the 90s, I'm so lucky to have seen them live for a special gig with bjork , absolutely legendary.

The tunes that Andy and 808 State created are beautiful, powerful and part of my life, and I am thankful to have experienced them. So sorry for Andy's family for their loss, he and his work are greatly loved.

I'm just really glad that I got to live in a time and place with such awesome people And music..and wow to have never met someone but feel so embraced with the music...

After the release of Pacific 707, 808 State became my favourite band. Andy, you and your bandmates have given me a lifetime of joy in electronic music which has sadly been cut short with your untimely departure. I am pleased to have met you once in person and enjoyed much humorous banter on Facebook. R.I.P.
