Supporting Headway

Headway - the brain injury association is a charity set up to give help and support to people affected by brain injury.

About Steven "Rick"

Steven 'Rick' Stonell passed away peacefully on the 11th December 2020. Although his final passing was due to cancer, we know his health and life was irrevocably impacted with the head injury he sustained in 2016. We were lucky enough to have a few more years with him, however Rick never completely recovered. Many brain injury sufferers are not as fortunate even as he was. Instead of flowers we have chosen Headway as the charity for any donations friends and family would like to make in Rick's memory. We look forward to celebrating his life with you all virtually (and hopefully in person at some stage in the future, over a drink) lots of love, Sadie and Nan xxx

The only man who knew not one, but two places in London to find an hourglass. He told me curly hair was 'never fashionable'. Things were never dull with Rick around. Always think of him when I hear Lou Reed's 'Perfect Day'.

So many happy days with Rick, sadly no more. The Rochdale cowboy has left the building folks but his Northern Soul lives on. RIP Sir.

Abi and Alfie
Uncle Rick, we have so many fond and fun memories of spending time with you. From when I was growing up and then with Alfie as he grew up. Walking closely behind me after a man pinched my bum in Covent Garden when I was a teenager, getting me and my friend into Ministry of Sound, spinning dicky bows on NYE and challenging Alfie to eat chicken feet !! Just a few of the lovely memories 🧡 You will be missed in our family, lots of love and rest peacefully xx

Tears have fallen on the news of this tragic event. However, many giggles and laughs have been had with the inimitable Rick over the years. We hope that Nan and Sadie can rejoice in the fact that this fabulous friend was indeed a fabulous friend, as well as no doubt a fabulous hubby and papa. Lots of love RIP Rick. XX

Am horrified to discover, and only now Rick, that you were ashamed to be a Steven. We could have handled that. Otherwise, you were a lovely bloke, ace hairdresser and whipped away from us all far too soon. My warmest sympathies to Nan and Sadie and hope you find happier times ahead.

Rick - a quiet, unassuming non-judgemental Brother-in-law. At sometime or other all the inlaws have stayed with Rick Nan and Sadie and whether planned or a surprise visit Rick always made us feel welcome and comfortable. We all enjoyed his company and Rick's presence in our family will be sorely missed. Much love to Nan and Sadie.
