Frequently asked questions
Headway’s In Memory website provides families with a private and secure online platform to share their memories and support one another following the loss of a loved one.
It is simple to set up a tribute page, you can include as much or as little information as you wish. You can also upload images and videos of your loved one.
Family and friends can post their memories and messages of support.
This is a free resource provided by Headway to those who have lost loved ones and are connected to brain injury.
All donations made via the tribute page will come directly to Headway – the brain injury association helping us support others affected by brain injury.
All donations made through a tribute page or associated event pages will be collated and added to a running total. In addition, fundraising pages set up for Headway through Justgiving and Virgin Money Giving can also be linked to individual tribute pages and money raised through these sites will also be reflected in the tribute total.
Only the person setting up the tribute can personalise or edit the page. As the page owner, you are in complete control of the content of the tribute page.
That’s entirely up to you. You have the option of allowing people to search for your loved one’s tribute page or, if you'd prefer, the page can be set as private so that family and friends can only access it if the unique page link has been shared with them.
You can read instructions on setting up a tribute page or fundraising events below.

Setting up a tribute page
Setting up a Headway Tribute is a special way to remember the life of your loved one by enabling you to create your own unique, beautiful and lasting online memorial page in their name. It can be a place where you can share treasured memories and precious moments through posting your thoughts, photos and videos.
You can invite family and friends to view the page and post messages of support, remembrance and love. You also have the option for the page to take donations to support the vital work of Headway
To create your own tribute page, start by clicking the 'Create a tribute or event' link at the top of the website. From here, click on the 'Create a tribute' button.
Enter details of yourself and the person who you want to dedicate the page to. You can upload a banner image for the page, enter its title and write about your loved one. You can write as much or as little as you like, and don't worry - you can return to the page and edit it at a later date.
You also have some options to consider before you create your account:
Once you've created the page, we'll send you an email asking you to confirm your account. Just click the activation link in the email within two hours, and your tribute page will be activated.
You can share your page using the link in the bottom-right corner, or by copying the page address from your browser.
People who visit the page can leave tribute messages to share what the person means to them. If you have allowed donations, they can also give a gift to Headway and even set up fundraising events in memory.
Manage your page
As a tribute owner, you can manage and improve the page via your dashboard.
To access this, log in to the site using the link in the top-right corner, and then click on your name to see the options.
The Tribute option gives you a range of features to manage and customise your page. You can:
If you make any changes, don't forget to click the 'Save' button at the bottom of the page.
Events in memory
If fundraising has been enabled on a page, you can set up one or more events to raise funds for Headway in memory.
Holding a fundraising event or conquering a personal challenge can be a fitting way to remember someone special.
You may want to host something yourself or take part in a local organised event. Alternatively Headway has many different activities for you to get involved with including marathons and runs, bike rides, treks and skydives; there is something for everyone.
Events can be set up by page owners as well as other people. The page owner will be asked to approve any events related to their tribute page before they are activated.
To set up an event, go to the page you would like to raise money in support of, and click the 'New event' button.
Enter all details on the form. You can choose to take donations through this website, enter an amount raised offline, or even link the event to an existing Virgin Money Giving or Just Giving page to ensure your fundraising total is up-to-date. Instructions for adding your Virgin Money Giving or Just Giving details are available on the create event page.
Once complete, new account holders will receive an email containing an activation link, which must be clicked within two hours to activate the event.
